Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is a retail outlet operated by Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that focuses on building affordable housing for people in need. ReStores sell new and gently used building materials, furniture, appliances, and home goods, often donated by individuals, businesses, and contractors. The proceeds from ReStore sales help fund Habitat for Humanity's housing projects.

While ReStores primarily serve as a means to generate funding for Habitat's mission, they can also be a treasure trove for people looking for unique and affordable items for their homes.

I've purchased all kinds of things from the ReStore for my place. A beautiful pendant light we purchased is waiting to take its place in my kitchen renovation.. The light will hang between two refurbished cabinets painted black with chrome handles from the store. Take a look at the comfy ottoman that holds our blankets and doubles as a window seat, All of these wonderful purchases were compliments of the ReStore, with a little TLC from me.

Here are some tips for treasure hunting at Habitat for Humanity's ReStore:

1. Frequent Visits - ReStore inventory can change frequently, so visiting regularly increases your chances of finding unique items.

2. Varied Selection - ReStores carry a wide range of items, from furniture and appliances to home decor and building materials. Keep an open mind and be prepared for surprises.

3. Quality Check - While many items are in good condition, it's still important to inspect items closely for any damage or defects before purchasing.

4. Discounts and Sales - ReStores often have special discount days or sales events. Keep an eye out for these opportunities to save even more.

5. Project Planning - If you're working on a home improvement project, consider checking out ReStores for materials like tiles, flooring, cabinets, and more.

6. Repurposing - Get creative with repurposing items. An old door could become a unique tabletop, or reclaimed wood might be perfect for a DIY project.

7. Popular Items - Items like antique furniture, vintage appliances, and unique light fixtures tend to get snatched up quickly. Arriving early on store opening days can give you an advantage.

8. DIY and Upcycling - If you enjoy DIY projects, ReStores can be a goldmine for materials to repurpose and upcycle.

9. Donations - If you have unused furniture or materials, consider donating to ReStore. It's a great way to declutter while supporting a good cause.

10. Community Engagement - ReStores often have a sense of community, so don't hesitate to strike up conversations with staff and other shoppers. You might get valuable insights or recommendations.

Remember that the inventory at ReStore locations can vary widely based on location and donations, so what you find at one store might differ from another. Additionally, the proceeds from your purchases go toward a great cause—helping provide affordable housing for those in need.

Happy treasure hunting!
